What is Send Noods?
The first nood I painted was of myself in March 2020. I had taken figure drawing classes in college, but did not pick up painting until I was stuck in my apartment with too much time on my hands and too many thoughts stuck in my head. I wanted to see my body not as the mirror reflected, but as it was; a three dimensional plane that took up space and made light dance and reflect off its surfaces. I painted as a response to all the things I wanted to say in the stories I reported as a journalist covering reproductive rights in the South, but couldn’t. So I solicited photos of friends and internet acquaintances and became enchanted by the way paint succumbed to their bodies. My process is as much rooted in the sacred conversations between artist and muse as it is the working of paints onto a canvas. I hope to illuminate the wholeness of our bodies, especially the parts distorted by mirrors, photographs, societal pressure and trauma.
Step by step
Secure your portrait by making a $150 deposit in my store. The deposit will go toward the cost of your portrait.
After you have paid your deposit, you will receive an email with how to prepare and take a reference photo. We can communicate through email or set up a 20 minute phone call to discuss size, color palate, posing, etc.
Once expectations have been set, Abbey will email you an invoice. At least 50% of the invoice must be paid in order for her to get started.
Relax, set up a date night with yourself (or with a partner or friend) to take 2-3 reference images. A Pinterest board can be provided for posing inspiration.

Receive a custom portrait by mail or personal delivery in four weeks. Rush orders may be accommodated for a fee.
Pricing
Most commission pieces range from $650-800, most common size being 18x24“. If you have a custom size or vision, I will make sure you are comfortable with the direction and quote before moving forward. Payment plans are available upon request.
